Born in the small North Carolina town of Hamlet, Mark was raised in Wallace, NC with very loving parents and a house full of sisters.  Mark began playing the guitar in 1969 as a young boy and wrote his first song in 1970.  During the next decade listening to artists like James Taylor, Jim Croce/Maury Muehleisen, Don McLean, John Denver and Simon & Garfunkel, Mark discovered a style of music that spoke to his heart.  It was also during this time that he discovered a passion for recording. Starting with an old Realistic reel to reel tape recorder Mark would record his original songs then use a second track to record harmony or add a second guitar part.

After High School Mark attended Mars Hill College where he met that special girl who captured his heart.  Mark married his college sweetheart, and now Mark & Terrie are the proud parents of three wonderful children.  During the college years Mark teamed with Dan Fincannon to form "Mark & Dan".  The musical duo traveled throughout the Southeast performing their original songs in churches and coffee houses.  In 1993 Mark and Dan reunited to form Windwood Productions, a Music Recording Production business which Mark still operates.  It was during the early Windwood Production years that Mark & Dan began a fruitful relationship with HighReach Learning, an award winning creator and supplier of early childhood educational materials for children.  Mark & Dan co-wrote and produced several children's music products for HRL.  Mark later produced Todderrific Tunes & The Christmas Wish.

In 2003 Mark teamed with Jim Clare to form Starcatcher Music, a children's music production/publishing business.  Mark and Jim wrote and produced the popular personalized music CDs, Fun Jobs I Can Do, Birthday Party Songs with Lunchbox & Friends and A Personalized Santa Message.  Kidmusic.com is now the exclusive distributor of the Starcatcher Music products. 

Mark is an ordained Minister and works with Senior Adults at Winter Park Baptist Church in Wilmington, NC.

Mark is currently working on producing various Folk Music projects including an Album of his original Instrumentals featuring acoustic guitar, mandolin and other stringed instruments.
